Saskia Jaarsma is Head of the Offshore Development team within TenneT’s unit Large Projects Offshore. The objective of Large Projects Offshore is to safely and sustainably develop, build and operate the offshore grid in Germany and The Netherlands, against lowest cost for society. The Offshore Development team is responsible for developing new policies, concepts and offshore grid innovations in Germany and The Netherlands; developing this into feasible roadmaps for new offshore grid projects; as well as partnering with other offshore stakeholders like TSO’s, OWF developers and NGO’s.
Since 2021, Saskia is also one of the 20 selected members of the Clean Energy Industrial Forum’s working group on offshore renewables, initiated by DG Energy of the European Commission.
Before joining TenneT in 2015, Saskia worked for DNV GL and KEMA as a principal consultant in the electricity transmission and distribution sector. In 2001, she graduated at the Technical University of Eindhoven, completing the MSc study “Energytechnology and Policy” (related to Industrial Sciences).
“As we move towards a future powered by renewable energy, every offshore wind farm, offshore substation and cable becomes a critical piece of the larger energy puzzle. These aren’t just single projects—they are part of an increasingly interconnected offshore grid. Transparency and close collaboration across sectors and countries are essential to ensure we make the right choices and maximize the potential of these developments.”
