Biography

Jeroen started to work in the early ‘90’s for the Dutch government on different nature topics such as: forestry policy, sustainable green cities, international Climate Change and Land Use. Since 2011 his focus has been on North Sea Nature and Oceans, addressing the increasing challenges of protecting and sustainably using marine resources. His contributions to the national strategy perspectives of the North Sea in 2014, highlighted transitions in food, energy and nature. As the Chair of OSPAR’s Biodiversity Committee he contributed to the Quality Status Report. With the Dutch Climate Agreement, the need for more offshore energy within ecological boundaries was a new challenge. Riding the waves of 2 crises of Biodiversity and Climate change.

Jeroen is now Program Manager Nature Regeneration North Sea aiming to improve the quality and status of the North Sea combining it with provisions of sustainable use.
