Previous edition 2024

The 17th edition of Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC) has wrapped up. We reflect on two days filled with innovation, collaboration, and inspiration. From insightful discussions on the future of offshore energy to showcasing groundbreaking technologies on the exhibition floor, OEEC 2024 has been nothing else but extraordinary.

Harmony

At OEEC 2024, we emphasize the critical importance of cooperation and coordination in driving this transition from traditional fossil fuels to more sustainable and renewable energy sources. This year’s theme, Harmony, reflects the growing need for unity within the industry.

Keeping energy infrastructure at sea safe, bringing cyber security into the focus and ramping up the buildout of clean energy and clean fuel projects were the main topics throughout the two days at OEEC.

Seabed security – and safeguarding all offshore energy infrastructure – was a major subject at several conference sessions and panels at OEEC’s The Stage with Paul Flos, Program Director of International Naval Materiel Cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Defense contributing from the military point of view.

What our exhibitors had to say

For the maritime sector there are so many new innovations we are discovering here, that it's always interesting to come to these events. We have a huge program in the offshore wind sector and it's good to also know what's happening outside TenneT, what are the vendors doing and also get new contacts and experiences from other companies too.

Sub Project Lead Platform, TenneT

This is my first time at Offshore Energy and I'm totally loving it. It's giving me a good exposure to meet people. I'd say a fruitful event!

Anshika Singh Bais, Acta Marine

There is a lot of interest in green growth from financers, from the government, from the industry. It's a topic where we have to work together as a government, the people and the industries.

Bas Nekeman, DEME Offshore

We have to move away from not taking a step because of fear but enjoying the uncertainty and move to fun to beat climate change. Dare to have fun, dare to join, dare to talk to senior people, dare to approach them, dare to share your thoughts, just dare to do.

David Molenaar, Former CEO at Siemens Gamesa

It's a good chance for cooperating with new companies and also to know what's going on in the market. It's a place where you can find all the leaders.

Ghadah Al-Bahr, Van Storm

We had a fantastic panel session today, lots of interesting questions on floating wind and the economics and also the costs of standardization. Sharing knowledge is absolutely critical. We talked a lot in the panel about collaboration and we see collaboration is really key. It's all about bringing the best ideas together at conferences such as this.

James Young, JDR Cables

I understand that there are a lot of questions about how we might proceed forward in the U.S around offshore wind given all the campaign rhetoric that's happened. Things are moving along in the U.S. We've gained unbelievable momentum in the last four years, and we have 11 projects in the pipeline that we fully expect to continue to move forward.

Liz Burdock, Oceantic Network

Be aware of your circle of influence also as a young leader, and use it to stretch the boundaries. Leadership is about the big things, the vision, but it’s also about the small things, like practice what you preach in every single interaction, in every single detail, you need to be consequent.

Manon van Beek, CEO at TenneT

We want to achieve something different together. What do we need in order to realize the transition? And probably we need different things also on leadership. Because if we still do what we did, we get what we got.

Meike Broenink, Critical Minds

Seabed security is vital for our society. Imagine you don't have internet, you don't have electricity or no heat in your house. Most of this stuff comes from the North Sea. So the critical undersea infrastructure of the North Sea is vital for us to live in the Netherlands in the way that we like to do. It's good to reach out to civilian oriented industry. They have what can help us win the war.

Paul Flos, The Dutch Ministry of Defence

It's an important event where we can share ideas and also sometimes challenging conditions in the market. Large scale projects are coming to fruition since 2017 and that sparked so much international attention that we needed an international place where we could also showcase what we are doing in the Netherlands and share with the world what we have done the last years.

Peter Lambooij, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO)
