Carine van Bentum MSc is the Director of the Seabed Security Experimentation Centre (SeaSEC) at the Dutch Ministery of Defence, part of the Materiel and IT Command. Carine van Bentum has a background in Civil Engineering and worked for the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) for 22 years. She began her career in the unit Built Environment, where she was an expert in the field of wind engineering. She led various national and international projects in the field of wind loads and vibrations. She moved to the unit Defence, Safety and Security becoming deputy head of the Acoustics and Sonar department and later head of the Radar technology department. As key account manager she was responsible for the strategic alliance with one of the leading Dutch OEMs in the defence industry. She continued her career as a member of the management team of the Defence, Safety and Security unit, where she fulfilled the role of senior advisor to the managing director. She managed the unit’s strategic account managers, covering all defence domains: land, air and navy as well as international cooperation. In 2025 she joined the Ministry of Defence.
