CEO and Founder at Sinay

Yanis Souami is the Founder and CEO of Sinay, a maritime technology company specializing in ocean data analytics and environmental intelligence. A marine engineer by training, he founded Sinay in 2008 with a clear vision: to create a world where human activity and marine biodiversity can coexist sustainably through data and artificial intelligence.

Over the past 15 years, Yanis has built Sinay from a local startup in Caen into a fast-growing company of more than 100 employees, with offices in Caen, Brest, and Lorient, and projects spanning the globe. Sinay provides AI-driven data solutions that help maritime and offshore industries — including shipping, ports, offshore wind, and fisheries — monitor environmental impact, optimize operations, and support ocean conservation.

Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Top Innovator in Ocean Data, Sinay stands today as a leading voice in sustainable maritime innovation.

Alongside his work at Sinay, Yanis has contributed to several national and international initiatives, from advising the French Navy on marine ecosystem issues to supporting innovation networks such as French Tech Normandie and the Joint Noise Working Group of ACCOBAMS, ASCOBANS, and CMS.

“Mastering and protecting the ocean through data and AI defines a future where innovation and preservation move forward together.”
