Paul is the Chief Commercial and Growth Office (CCGO) for the Venterra Group where he is in charge of new opportunities including client relationships, partnerships/alliances, M&A activities, and business development.
Paul is an engineer by background with a PhD in offshore geotechnical engineering and founded the company Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) in 2011 and as Managing Director developed GDG into one of the world’s leading offshore wind consultancy firms. Over the past decade, Paul developed and led a team of over 400 engineers and scientists who provide value engineering design to projects across the world within the Venterra Group. Venterra Group is a pure play offshore services business focused on driving the energy transition by bringing scale to the offshore wind sector.
Paul is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Ph.D. qualified Geotechnical Engineer, and a fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers in Ireland as well as an active member of the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) technical committees for “Marine Foundations” and “Driven Piling”.
With an extensive career background in offshore wind projects and renewable energy development, Paul has worked on over 45GW of offshore wind projects in countries around the world. His focus has primarily been related to risk mitigation and early-stage value creation across a wide range of engineering services.
As part of the senior Leadership Team at Venterra Group, Paul is now focused on building a high growth business that is dedicated to becoming one of the primary service companies in the offshore wind sector.
