Maurits den Broeder is Managing Director Offshore Energy at Van Oord and a member of the company’s Executive Committee. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in Dredging and Offshore Technology from Delft University of Technology. With over 20 years of international experience in marine construction, he has led major projects in dredging, land reclamation, pipeline installation, coastal protection, and offshore wind development.
He serves on the board of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and is also a board member of the Association of Dutch Suppliers in the Offshore Energy Industry (IRO). He has played a pivotal role in shaping Van Oord’s offshore wind strategy. Under his leadership, Van Oord commissioned the Boreas, the largest offshore wind installation vessel of its kind, capable of installing turbines up to 20MW and operating on methanol, reducing emissions by over 78%.
He is a strong advocate for innovation, sustainability, and cross-sector collaboration, and highlights the strategic role of wind energy in driving the energy transition.
