@ The Stage Tuesday 24 November, 16:00 – 16:25 | TWD – Hold the Reins: Engineering in the Age of AI
Imco joined TWD in 2013 and has since taken on a wide range of roles, from structural engineer to founding a new business unit for Procurement and Fabrication Management. This gave him a broad understanding of how engineering projects come together, from the first calculation through to final delivery.
He later took a five-year break to complete a PhD in aerospace engineering, specialising in multidisciplinary design automation and optimisation. After returning to TWD, he founded the Software Engineering Group, a dedicated team developing automation solutions for engineering work, with AI now playing a key role.
Today, Imco focuses on integrating AI into engineering workflows in a way that engineers can trust, verify and control. His approach is built around three principles: start at the end, build tools rather than answers, and stay in control by owning the agent’s harness. At OEEC, he’ll show what these principles look like in engineering practice at TWD.
“At TWD, we believe AI can take engineering a long way, but only if the engineer holds the reins.”
