Moderator | The Stage
Donatello Piras will serve as moderator on The Stage across both days of OEEC25, as well as host of the Offshore Energy Awards Dinner on 24 November.
Donatello Piras is a frequently requested chairman, presenter and moderator with years of experience at home in the Netherlands and abroad. Each year he leads close to a hundred events for companies, governments, NGOs, and educational institutions, bringing energy, professionalism, and strong audience engagement to every setting. He moderates fluently in Dutch, English, and Italian.
With a broad background as a communication consultant, journalist, podcast maker, and debate leader, Donatello is known for navigating complex topics with ease. His expertise spans energy transition and climate, finance, education, healthcare, sustainability, logistics, legal and tax issues, and more.
He has worked extensively with Dutch media, including roles at TALPA and RTL Z, and regularly appears as a commentator for BNR, NOS, and RTL. Donatello also contributes as a communications specialist and political analyst for programs such as Goedemorgen Nederland.
A passionate trainer and coach, he advises politicians, civil servants, and executives on persuasive communication, presentations, and media performance. He is co-author of the bestseller Debating to Win – The Art of Persuasion and has trained numerous professional groups including the Dutch Bar Association and the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers.
Donatello’s career began 25 years ago in Italy, where he presented multilingual programs at an international holiday park while studying communications and hosting radio shows. His path led through roles at the Dutch House of Representatives, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, KLM, and the Netherlands Debate Institute, where he later headed Staff Training.
