Senior project lead, Nature Regeneration North Sea – The Rich North Sea

Biography

Tuesday 25 November, 11:15 – 11:45 | Investing in Offshore Wind and Nature Regeneration

Much happens beneath the surface of the sea, often beyond our view. This mystery is both the beauty and the challenge of studying and restoring marine life.

Through The Rich North Sea program and the Dutch Nature Regeneration program, I work as a Senior Marine Ecologist and Project Lead to strengthen North Sea biodiversity. For instance by creating reefs in offshore wind farms and Marine Protected Areas.

My goal is to use marine protected areas and the energy transition as a catalyst to restore the richness and diversity of seas. Next to protected areas, wind farms offer unique opportunities for nature development, providing funds and safe spaces for reef growth and marine life to thrive. Through The Rich North Sea, we aim to demonstrate the immense ecological potential of the North Sea and show that with thoughtful management, nature recovery and sustainable use can go hand in hand.
